We believe environmental stewardship is good for our planet, good for our associates and good for our guests. Demonstrating a long-standing commitment to the environment, we have initiated an organization-wide effort to manage energy use wisely, preserve natural resources and minimize the environmental impact of our operations without compromising the service and safety of our associates and guests.

Currently, our hotels have been awarded Green Keys through the Hotel Association of Canada's Green Key ECOmmodation program. The program is based on a graduated rating system for hotels, motels and resorts in order to recognize their level of environmental performance and to help support greater levels of commitment. The program is administered on behalf of the Hotel Association of Canada by CH2M Hill, a firm committed to protecting and enhancing the natural and constructed environment.

Our commitment to the environment is endorsed and embraced by all associates. Environmental decisions are part of the corporate culture and are fundamental to the daily operation of each hotel, from the frontline to the boardroom. Each hotel has an Environmental Committee made up of employees from a variety of operational areas that investigate ways to reduce the hotel's impact on the environment. This includes everything from selecting soaps and detergents that are soft on the environment, installing energy efficient lighting, upgrade heating ventilation and air conditioning systems, improving waste management practices, reducing water and energy consumption to selecting environmentally certified products made from recycled materials and working with organizations that take back and recycle packaging and containers.

In 2005, our Company was honoured with an Award of Excellence in Energy and Environment by the Hotel Association of Canada.

As our guest, you can also play a part. Please re-use towels, recycle paper and plastic and turn off your lights and heating when leaving the room. Together, we can make a difference.
